Jio, Airtel, and Vi get New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans

Jio, Airtel, and Vi get New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans : Best Plans Compared!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

TRAI had told telecom operators to comply with a new policy of having Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans after which Jio, Airtel, and Vi have come up with some new plans. Jio was the 1st one followed by Airtel and Vi. TRAI has bought this new policy due to requests from users of having a 30/31 day pack validity as it helps in minimizing the count of yearly recharges.

TRAI said “Every telecom service provider shall offer at least one plan voucher, one special tariff voucher and one combo voucher which shall be renewable on the same date of every month, and if the date of such renewal is not available in a month, the date of renewal shall be the last date of that month.” You can check the TRAI Telecom Tariff Order 67th Amendment 2022.

What is ‘1 Month Validity’ in the New Calendar Month Prepaid Recharge Plans?

These new plans include a ‘1 Month Plan’. This means that the validity will depend on the number of days of your recharge month. For ex: you recharge on 6th April 2022 then your plan will expire on 6th May 2022 i.e. 30 days validity as there are 30 days in April. Now, suppose you recharge on 1st May then expiry will be 1st June i.e. 31 days validity due to 31 days in May.

Now let’s checkout the New Calendar Month Prepaid Recharge Plans from Jio, Airtel, and Vi. Also, we will compare them with other plans to know whether these new plans are worth it or not. You can check your respective operator details below.

Jio New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans with Comparison 2022

There are 2 New Jio Calendar Month Validity Recharge Plans in ₹296 and ₹259. These come with unlimited voice. The ₹259 plan is a 1 month plan. You can check the latest Jio Recharge Cashback offers here.

Check the New Jio Calendar Month Validity Recharge Plan details in the below table. We have also done the comparison of these 2 new plans with other old monthly plans of 28 days so that you can opt for the best suitable plan.

Jio Prepaid Plan Data Validity Comparison (based on per day cost)
299 2GB/day (total 56GB) 28 days ₹24 more, but gives 31GB extra data compared to ₹296 plan
296 (New Calendar Month Plan) 25GB  30 days NA
259 (New Calendar Month Plan) 1.5GB/day (total 46.5GB max) 1 month (31 days max) ₹6 less + 4.5GB more data compared to ₹239 plan (31 days)
₹239 1.5GB/day (total 42GB) 28 days NA
209 1GB/day (total 28GB) 28 days ₹72 less + extra 3GB data compared to ₹296 plan

As you can see, the ₹296 plan fails in terms of data and price comparatively. However, the ₹259 plan is a good bet for months with 31 days.

Note: Green indicates recommended plans | Red indicates plans to avoid

Airtel New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans with Comparison 2022

Airtel Prepaid Plan Data Validity Comparison (based on per day cost)
319 (New Calendar Month Plan) 2GB/day (total 62GB max) 1 month (31 days max) ₹78 less + 6GB more compared to ₹359 plan (31 days)
299 1.5GB/day (total 42GB) 28 days ₹24 more, but gives 17GB extra data compared to ₹296 plan

Vi (Vodafone-Idea) New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans with Comparison 2022

Vi (Vodafone-Idea) has 4 New Calendar Month Validity Prepaid Recharge Plans with 2 being from the combo/validity section. As seen below, both the new plans are better to avoid. Still there is something to cheer about with these Vi (Vodafone-Idea) Recharge Cashback offers.

Vi (Vodafone-Idea) Prepaid Plan Data Validity Comparison (based on per day cost)
337 (New Calendar Month Plan) 28GB 31 days NA
327 (New Calendar Month Plan) 25GB 30 days NA
299 1.5GB/day (total 42GB) 28 days ₹6 less + 14GB more data compared to ₹337 plan
269 1GB/day (total 28GB) 28 days ₹39 less compared to ₹337 plan

Vi (Vodafone-Idea) New Calendar Month Combo/Validity Plans

These plans are good for people looking for low-cost monthly mobile recharges with limited calling and rare data usage.

Plan Name Talktime  Data  Validity Restrictions
₹107 107 200MB 30 days no outgoing sms
₹111 111 200MB 31 days no outgoing sms

Therefore, the ‘1 Month Plan’ is a good addition while other new plans are better to avoid as they are costly plus give less data. It seems like TRAI has just got this new policy for the sake of it.
