Amazon’s annual Great Indian Festival (GIF) sale, its flagship Diwali shopping event, kicked off on September 23, 2025. Prime members got a 24-hour head start (midnight Sept 22) before the sale opened to everyone.
Amazon says over 17 lakh sellers are participating, offering deals on electronics, fashion, appliances and home goods. The company is touting this as “the biggest shopping event of the year”, promising “lowest prices on top electronics, home appliances, fashion, and more”.
With the sale now live, shoppers can expect a rush of discounts, special bank offers, and daily deal drops over the next several weeks.
Historical Sale Dates and Durations
Amazon’s Great Indian Festival typically runs for about a month around Diwali. For context:
- 2024: Ran Sept 27 to Oct 29 (34 days).
- 2023: Ran Oct 8 to Nov 10 (33 days). Prime early access Oct 7.
- 2022: Ran Sept 23 to Oct 23 (30 days). Prime early access Sept 22.
Each year’s sale spans roughly 30-34 days. In that time Amazon has broken records for visits and transactions, thanks to heavy discounts and special deals.
Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sale has grown each year. In 2024 it ran from Sept 27 to Oct 29 , a record 34 days, with expanded sellers and delivery support.
2025 Launch and Speculated End Date
The 2025 sale is now underway. Amazon’s press release confirms the sale started on Sept 23, 2025 (with Prime members shopping from midnight). Given past trends, the festival will likely last about 4-5 weeks.
Extrapolating from prior years (e.g. 2024’s 34-day run and 2023’s ending Nov 10), analysts expect a late-October/early-November wrap-up. A reasonable guess is the sale could conclude in the last week of October or first week of November, perhaps around Oct 28-Nov 1, 2025. For reference, Diwali 2025 falls on Oct 20, so Amazon often times the finale around the main festival date.
Top Deals by Category
Shoppers can expect blockbuster discounts across all the major categories:
- Electronics & Mobile: Flagship smartphones from Apple (iPhone 15 at Lowest Price), Samsung (S24 Ultra at ₹71,999), Xiaomi and others should see huge price cuts (often 30-50% off). In 2025 Amazon’s preview even touts “up to 40% off on smartphones and accessories”. Laptops and PCs will be on sale too, expect up to ~45% off on popular Windows laptops and gaming rigs. Smartwatches, tablets and peripherals (e.g. Amazon Echo/Alexa devices, Fire TV sticks, headphones) also get steep discounts, last year many such gadgets were marked down 50-70%.
- Smart TVs & Home Entertainment: Major TV brands (Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL etc.) typically get one of the deepest cuts. Early 2025 reports already mention up to 65% off on select smart TV. For example, Amazon’s festival page lists smart TVs at up to “65% off”. Audio gear and speakers (Bluetooth speakers, soundbars) will also be heavily discounted.
- Home Appliances: Refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, mixers and other appliances see big markdowns. The Amazon GST preview shows an LG 1.5-ton 5-star AC at 52% off. This year’s “Day 2” deals included half-price sales on TVs, fridges and washers. In past festivals, ACs and fridges often drop 40-60% (e.g. ~59% off on top AC models), and washing machines 40-50%. The sale also features kitchen gadgets (microwave ovens, air fryers, water purifiers) and home essentials (bedding, furniture) at major discounts, sometimes up to 70-80% off on select home goods.
- Fashion & Apparel: Festive clothing and accessories see huge discounts. Amazon’s own preview promises “up to 66% off” on women’s ethnic wear and “55% off” on menswear (and often even deeper deals on other brands). Expect major fashion brands (Levi’s, Adidas, Titan, U.S. Polo, UCB, etc.) at 50-80% off during the sale. Footwear, jewelry, and accessories similarly get big price cuts. Beauty and grooming products often have 60-70% off during GIF. (Note: Many apparel/beauty items now benefit from new lower GST rates as well, effectively boosting discounts.)
- Home & Kitchen Goods: From kitchen appliances (mixers, cookware sets) to home décor and furniture, expect aggressive deals. Amazon lists “up to 80% off” on home, kitchen and outdoors items in its preview. This echoes past trends (up to 70% off home/kitchen items last year). Think cookware, storage solutions, holiday décor and essentials like water filters, vacuums and LED lights, often deeply discounted or with bundled “combo” offers (e.g. kitchen kit bundles, BOGO deals).

Bank Offers, EMIs and Exchanges
Amazon traditionally partners with banks and payment methods to sweeten the savings:
- Bank Card Discounts: Shoppers will get around 10% instant discount when paying with select bank cards. For example, SBI credit/debit cards routinely offer 10% off (up to ₹1000). Other banks like ICICI, HDFC and Axis usually match this (in 2024, ICICI offered 10% off up to ₹6,500). Amazon Pay ICICI cards often yield 5% extra cashback on top of these discounts. Co-branded Amazon cards and EMI transactions get similar deals.
- No-Cost EMI: Most big-ticket items will be available on no-cost EMI (3-12 months, depending on product). Amazon’s festival page confirms “No-Cost EMI on debit and credit cards”. In 2023 about 75% of sale purchases used EMI, so this year Amazon is again promoting 0% EMI heavily. Amazon Pay Later users can get up to ₹60,000 instant credit and 3, 6 months EMI on many categories.
- Exchanges: Exchange offers (trading in your old smartphone/tablet) are available across mobiles and laptops. High-end phones often carry exchange bonuses up to ₹8-10K. Appliances and other categories have similar schemes (e.g. ₹5K-10K off on old fridge/AC models). These stack with bank discounts for extra savings.
- Amazon Pay Rewards: Prime members can earn extra savings via Amazon Pay Rewards (Gold). Up to 5% assured cashback (3% for non-Prime) is available on select categories through Amazon Pay transactions. There are also coupon codes (for example, get ₹1000 voucher on prepaid mobile recharge) and deals on Amazon gift cards (often 10% bonus value).

Special Sale Features
Beyond discounts, the Great Indian Festival offers several features to engage shoppers:
- Prime Early-Access and Deals: Prime members had a 24-hour head start (midnight launch) to grab early-bird deals. Throughout the festival Amazon will run exclusive “Prime Dhamaka” lightning deals and extra coupons just for Prime customers.
- Kickstarter & 8PM Specials: Amazon usually releases a wave of Kickstarter deals (pre-sale offers) about a week in advance. During the sale there will also be time-limited Lightning Deals and 8PM specials that change hourly or daily. Shoppers should check the “Deals of the Day” section each morning.
- Combo Offers: Bundled savings (e.g. phone+accessory packs, BOGO schemes, festive kits) are back. “crazy combos” and coupon stacks. Expect Amazon to highlight combo offers like “Buy 2, save more” or fixed-price bundles in each category.
- Price Crash Store: Amazon’s “Price Crash” events (a collection of flash deals at rock-bottom prices) often run during GIF. These can surprise with ultra-low prices for a few minutes on top products.
- GST Savings: A new factor this year is reduced GST on many appliances and home goods. Amazon is featuring a “GST Bachat Utsav” storefront to pass on these tax savings to customers. Look for products tagged with GST savings, you’ll effectively get an extra discount on top of the sale price.
- Language Support & Delivery: Amazon has promoted this sale in multiple Indian languages and added 45 new delivery stations (mostly in tier-2/3 cities) for faster shipping. This means same-day/next-day delivery is now available in many more towns than before.
- Shopping Conveniences: During the GIF, Amazon extends return windows and offers easy no-questions refunds on most items. Combined with EMI options and Pay Later, this makes the shopping experience more convenient for festival shoppers.
With these features and offers, the Great Indian Festival 2025 aims to deliver “the lowest prices of the year” on countless products. Shoppers should mark their calendars and compare deals carefully, new specials will appear every day. Stay tuned to Amazon’s site for the latest lightning deals, daily bargains and bank offers as the sale progresses.
