MacBook Air M2 vs M4: Performance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, the Air M4 (2025) is a clear step up<\/a> from the M2. The M4 chip sports a 10\u2011core CPU<\/strong> (4 performance + 6 efficiency cores) versus the M2\u2019s 8\u2011core (4+4) design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physically, the M2 and M4 Airs are nearly identical. Both are slim, fanless unibody laptops weighing about 1.24-1.25\u202fkg<\/strong>. They share Apple\u2019s familiar wedge shape, edge\u2011to\u2011edge 13.6\u2011inch Liquid Retina display (2560\u00d71664 resolution, 500\u202fnits, P3 color, True Tone), and overall build quality. In fact, the screens are essentially the same on both machines (same size and brightness), so you won\u2019t notice a difference in viewing experience between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a few subtle upgrades in the M4 design. Apple introduced a new \u201cSky Blue\u201d color (alongside Silver, Starlight, Midnight) for the M4, whereas the M2 is only available in Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, or Silver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The M4 also upgrades the webcam to a 12MP Center Stage<\/em> camera, whereas the M2 Air has a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a nice bonus for video calls. Internally, the M4 uses Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi\u2011Fi 6E, while the M2 has Thunderbolt\/USB 4 (Thunderbolt 3 speeds) and Wi\u2011Fi 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both have MagSafe 3 charging and a headphone jack. In short, if you compare them side\u2011by\u2011side you\u2019ll find the looks and feel are the same<\/strong>.
